Blink Industries

On the 9th February I attended the briefing from Blink Industries. Our task was to create a 2 second looping animation of the Blink Industries logo for their new game ‘Nippets’. We had to get into teams, mine was a team of 4. Each team had to pick one of the four seasons, each season had a background provided by Blink, my team chose Summer.

My first draft design for Blink, I used certain elements from the ‘Nippets’ game such as the cat and fairy lights.

My second draft design. I made the outlines cohesive to fit in with the ‘Nippets’ game as well as using colours and design elements to match the game.

My first rough animation, I used TV Paint to make it, I worked on animating the shorts in the wind, the ice cream dripping and starfish animation. I kept the frame rate low as this was just to see how the movement could look.
After getting feedback from the Blink team, we wanted to add in people to our logo in order to incorporate the human aspect of Nippets into our animation. My idea was to create a loop of a person swimming in circles in the water behind the ‘Blink’ part of the logo. I used one of the characters from the game itself as a reference.

Here’s the progress table my group used. We noted down which element each person was going to animate to keep track of what everyone was doing

Once we all finished our animated elements, we would upload the PNG sequence into our shared OneDrive so that Alfie, who was in charge of compositing, could put it all together

Our final animation loop! This is what we submitted to Blink

Blink then posted everyone’s animations on their Instagram!
