Isobel Stenhouse Brief

  • Got given brief about designing either a work environment or key character for a game.
  • I chose environment, I had to design it in accordance to the gameplay basic schematic .
  • I had to create mood boards and roughs to begin planning my environment, my plan was to create a marketplace selling books and produce for an adventure type game.
Here’s my mood board, I was leaning towards a Mediterranean market feel

Below I’ve attached some notes I’d take after the meetings with Isobel, the feedback she’d give was always super helpful and made me improve a lot

  • We would have weekly sessions with Isobel where we’d show our work progression and get feedback
  • I was started off very rough and started slowly improving my environment and the perspectives in it based on the feedback I would receive
  • I learnt a lot of new techniques on perspectives
Here’s a very early rough of my idea, this was mainly to block out where everything would be and to see how it works with the gameplay
A more cleaned up rough, again this was mainly to block out how my environment would look
I created a detailed rough of my environment
Here I started developing the perspectives on my work
Isobel gave me some great advice on working out the perspectives on smaller parts of my environment, such as the gargoyles, boxes, etc. Here you can really see the difference and how much more natural everything was starting to look together
This is my final background with the horizon lines and guidelines I used for my perspectives
My final environment!
